Duration: 2Hours 19 Mins
Rumi Jaffrey has brought a tight thriller-mystery as a director. Despite being the story of the court and the criminal, it is not a court drama but a thriller film.
Chehre Story
The story and dramatization of the film are such that it feels like real while watching. The story here is such that the retired elders from the same world make a case by sitting together in their house every evening and set up their own court. In such a situation, some people get trapped near them and the cross-examination starts. But here 'Chehre' not only shows justice but also shows the difference between judgment and justice. The decision is made on the basis of facts. Therefore, it is not necessary that that judgment should be justice.
In the film, Sameer Mehra (Emraan Hashmi), the CEO of Ad Agency, who left for Delhi amid the severe snowfall of Manali, gets stuck in the middle. The reason for the fallen tree on the way, along with the failure of his car. In such a situation, he meets Paramjit Singh Bhullar (Annu Kapoor), who offers him to spend some time with his senior citizen friends. Both reach the house of retired judge Jagdish Acharya (Dhritiman Chatterjee). Taleef Zaidi (Amitabh Bachchan), who retired as a criminal lawyer, and Hariya Jatav (Raghuveer Yadav), a hangman, have also already held meetings. Now the real game begins!
Chehre Acting
The way the case gets entangled and how Sameer will be able to escape or not prove himself guilty, you will know all this after watching the film, but the scenes that come out in the midst of all this are enough to be heartbreaking. Amitabh Bachchan's style is quite intimidating.
Talking about the film overall, in every way, along with Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi, all the actors have done a heart-winning job. The roles of Annu Kapoor, Raghuveer Yadav, Dhritiman Chatterjee are also so strong that without them the juice of the film will be reduced. Riya Chakraborty's comeback is strong even after a small role. On the other hand, Krystle D'Souza, Sameer Soni, and Siddhant Kapoor have played their roles well.
Chehre Direction
The heavy dialogues have been written by Rumi and Ranjit together. A lot of poetry is also heard. Although many one liners manage to laugh. Amitabh Bachchan has a seven-minute long monologue. He speaks on Nirbhaya rape case, plight of acid attack victims, Uri surgical attack and Indo-Pak tension, which sounds very superficial.
Watch or not watch Chehre
'Chehre' cannot be called a courtroom drama thriller film. Yes it is definitely that Rumi Jaffrey has definitely tried to do something out of his comfort zone. If you are a fan of Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi then you can watch this movie.
